Kotor, worse than Paris

Imechapishwa: 06.08.2021

We arrive at the border and everything goes smoothly. Very friendly German border guard on the Bosnian side and a guy who doesn't take his job too seriously on the Montenegrin side. So perfect :)

We drive through the country and it's noticeable that the difference to Bosnia is not that big. The mountains continue to form a beautiful mountain range. We get closer to the coast and suddenly there was a sea.

Sea as far as the horizon, where it merged with the sky.

But where there is a sea, there is also tourism... at least in Montenegro!

For a journey of 2.5 hours, it took us 5... no stop and go in between. And me in a non-air-conditioned bus. So the nerves were boiling when we stopped to go shopping and eat an ice cream.

The people were consistently unfriendly. I have never seen such an ignorant and snippy cashier. And the ice cream wasn't tasty and the coffee was stale. Great...

So let's continue in the traffic jam... and at 35 degrees Celsius.

The first stop should be Kotor "a beautiful city, you have to stop here" said the border guy.

A city with exorbitant prices for parking lots... 5€/h yeah right... we drove in once and we were supposed to pay... only that we couldn't even turn around to choose another parking lot, the parking lot attendant didn't care... so we asked for the boss, two German blondes, and after a long discussion and a lot of explanation, he finally agreed to let us turn around and drive down for free...

so the parking lot for 3€/h... narrow streets, stressed people, and nobody understands two buses that need to turn around... our mood was at its lowest and so we jumped into the water first, the engines weren't even fully turned off when we let ourselves be carried away by the saltwater.

We learn: you're lost in Montenegro if you don't plan or if you're spontaneous...

so let's search for internet and accommodation!

Getting internet was quickly done and we got 7 days of internet for 10€ at TMobile.

We had a good meal at an Italian restaurant and the tourist information office was very friendly and advised us. We fell in love with a trip that turned out to be fully booked for the next three days and Lia and I agreed that we didn't want to stay here for more than one night... The tourism is stressful and so are the unfriendly mentality of the people.

The first campsite was completely full, so we turned around... the second campsite was very uneven, but we preferred to sleep badly rather than getting back in the car...

With a glass of wine and good music, we danced away the stress of the day and fell asleep with a smile.
