Once again a little contribution to Caye Caulker, because I am absolutely in love with this island.
The day before yesterday we started a little canoe tour. If you can rent the canoes for free, why not give it a try ;) (failed miserably at first, but eventually got the hang of it). Immediately, the first shock moment occurred: under the houseboat next to the canoes there was a crocodile enjoying the sun. But apparently it's part of the inventory here and doesn't bother anyone. Our house dog occasionally picks fights with it, but the crocodile seems unfazed. Just as laid-back as everyone else here :)
During our 'trip' we discovered the amazing beach bar Lady Lizard. It feels like everyone gathers here, sunbathing on the dock and enjoying a beer together.
The next day, we joined a snorkeling tour that lasted about 3 hours. The guys from 'Stressless' (could be the island's motto) took great care of us and were all very friendly. Underwater, Keith even showed/explained to us the different corals and fish.
But my highlight was swimming with sharks and stingrays. Initially, it took some courage to just jump in. 'Oh sharks, how exciting, I'm going in.' Not really, but they're actually harmless.
It was just so impressive.
After the tour, the guys invited us onto their boat. Of course, being typical Germans, our first thought was 'Oh God no, we can't do that, you never know.' But as everyone here says 'Take it easy' and we didn't regret it. We were able to watch the beautiful sunset from the boat. A must!
So Caye Caulker was beautiful, I will miss the time there ;)
