While the East Coast of Australia brought me down to earth a bit, Mission Beach makes up for everything of the past few days...
The road from Townsville to Mission Beach is still the same - pretty boring, through the hinterland along the A1 highway... Forest alternating with sugar cane and steppe...
Shortly before Mission Beach it becomes more tropical, the palm trees increase... And I also pass the first town that is right by the sea...
My hotel is a bit old-fashioned, but the location is amazing - right on the white sandy beach, which is almost empty.
After a drink at the bar and meeting small and big iguanas, I head to the beach...
The Pacific is friendly to me - calm waters, no jellyfish, and a temperature like at home in the bathtub.
After a refreshing swim, I take a long walk on the beach - better than any meditation...
This afternoon is a dream, and I witness the sun going to sleep..
Dinner in the hotel is amazing - on the beautiful terrace, I enjoy an excellent Chardonnay with a delicious tuna tartare followed by seafood linguine...
Mission Beach has reconciled me with the East Coast of Australia and I am looking forward to my final leg by car to Cairns tomorrow...
