Today was a very early wake-up call - the flight to Kingscote on Kangaroo Island departs at 9:45 am. Leaving some of my luggage in Adelaide, the journey is a bit tiring...
The airport is very modern, but not crowded at all. Just after going through passport control, I treat myself to breakfast - scrambled eggs with avocado and looots of coffee... ;-)
The plane is quite small, but the flight only takes 20 minutes - I don't even have to fasten my seatbelt...
At the airport, I am already picked up by my guide - I have booked a guide for the next 3 days - there are only six of us today. We start right away from the airport.
Our first stop is a beautiful sandy beach with Australian sea lions.
After the sea lions, we make our way to a resort with injured wildlife. But of course, not without making several detours, including to another beautiful beach.
And then it's finally time: I see my first wild koala...
Upon arriving at the reserve, we see lots of animals... but the highlight is definitely the 'petting session' with the koalas and the kangaroo moms with their joeys...
Afterwards, we have a late lunch in a truly tropical ambiance...
The day ends with another stunning beach, hidden away - we squeeze through the rocks, but what we see is definitely worth the effort...
Afterwards, I check into my Bed & Breakfast - it is beautiful... Really luxurious... and the dinner is also great... As are the local wines... ;-
