Today is already the 2nd Advent, the ship is decorated with Christmas decorations in some places, and there are cookies. But it is still within reason, so nothing over-the-top.
At 07:30 a.m. the ship should arrive at the port. But it was shortly after 8:00 a.m. when all formalities were completed. We were woken up by the many small boats passing by the ship and transporting goods.
The multicultural capital of the island is very colorful. Penang has 500,000 inhabitants, the old town is not very big, so we walked into the city with a Chinese guide. It's a bustling city with many temples and extravagant old buildings. In a mosque, a wedding had just ended. We waved to the couple. Because in George Town so many different religions coexist, a part of the city center is also called Street of Harmony. Buddhist and Hindu temples, mosques, and Christian churches stand here almost side by side.
In Georgetown is the "Goddess of Mercy Temple", the temple of the goddess of mercy. This goddess Guan Yin has roughly the same significance in the three teachings of China (Confucianism, Taoism, and Mahayana Buddhism) as the Holy Mary in Christianity.
The temple dedicated to her in George Town is the oldest Taoist temple in Penang and is located in the city center.
There is also a new town with skyscrapers and modern shopping centers, but we didn't want to visit them.
It was very hot, and the humidity was high. I sweated a lot on my back because of the backpack.
In the evening, Christmas stalls were set up all around the pool deck, and there were many delicious treats.
The evening recommendation was an artistic show in the theater.
