I think the excerpt sums it up quite well: as if another month has already passed. I feel like I just wrote the November update recently... Everything here just goes so quickly. However, besides the holidays, there wasn't anything particularly special in December.
At the beginning of the month, I went to Bowen Island, but that's a separate entry. The mountain also opened on the same weekend. (For those who don't know: there's a small ski resort about a forty-five minute drive away, which was one of the main reasons why I came to the Comox Valley in the first place.) I wasn't there on that weekend, but I was up there the following week and many more days. I'm also on the school team, but there will be a separate post on everything related to winter sports once the season progresses. What I can say now is that I'm having a lot of fun and really enjoying it.
Since I can only go skiing on the weekends, volleyball is over, and only basketball is on the schedule for the winter season, which I really don't like, and my fitness is really suffering here, I decided to go to the gym at the beginning of December. I would have gone earlier, but I didn't have anyone to go with me (that's not a cheap excuse). In the end, I found people to go with. And what can I say, it's been really good for me, even though I've only been able to go 4 times so far due to sickness that got in the way (really not an excuse).
In mid-December, my Mexican host sister left. There was a farewell party, which was fun, and then she was gone and I was alone again in my host family.
The time passed by and before you knew it, it was already the last week of school. If you imagine it to be relaxed, it probably would have been, if it weren't for the fact that some boys were sent home. I don't want to go into detail here, but in the end, they broke the rules and had to leave. So the last few days were very stressful for everyone, especially for some of my best friends, and of course, that affected me as well. On December 22nd, we finally had our last day of school, which included another assembly. There will be a separate post about the actual holidays soon.
By the way, December also had a real winter break, finally there was real snow that stayed for a while. In January, we might hope for a few snow days when we don't have to go to school. For now, I'm going to enjoy the rest of the holidays. I hope you all had a nice Christmas and a happy new year, cheers!
