From Fort Worth, we traveled about 200 miles south to Austin. We arrived in the capital of the state of Texas and visited the Texas State Capitol. The state legislative parliament building was built between 1882 and 1888 and is even taller than the Capitol in Washington, D.C. We strolled through the park and visited the 17 different monuments located on the 22-hectare property. Then we went inside the Capitol. Inside, there are offices and plenary halls for representatives and senators, as well as the office of the governor of the state. The circular building is adorned with portraits of all the presidents and governors, and the state of Texas star is displayed everywhere. After this visit to the state, we still had 80 miles to go to the Alamo City of San Antonio.
