Martha's Vineyard - Here Presidents Relaxed

Imechapishwa: 06.07.2019

Our breakfast at 'Hyannis Travel Inn' was something special. The continental breakfast was set up in the indoor pool area. As there was already a muggy humidity outside the houses, the idea of setting up breakfast here was simply the best. Without moving, you were already in your own juice. Two thumbs up for the management...

Then it was time to take the ferry. With the 'Vineyard Lady' we sailed for an hour at full speed to the island of the Kennedys and many other US presidents. Jackie Kennedy, as the widow of Onassis, lived here until her death.

After dropping off the tourist masses in Oak Bluffs - not without searching the gift shops for suitable magnets ourselves - we arrived at Trinity Home Tabernacle, known for its very old and very, very colorful houses, known as Gingerbread houses. Here, away from the tourist crowds, peace was called for. A very well-kept area that didn't even allow for biking. That was to be pushed please... The houses were very individual and lovingly decorated - from beautiful to absolutely kitsch. But what united them all was the must of at least three rocking chairs on the porch. The houses were so beautiful that we have posted a large selection here.

Then our path led us to the East Chop Light lighthouse. From here you had a nice view over the Atlantic. However, the way there was not a real pleasure due to the muggy heat... The way back was all the more beautiful. Past great houses with large properties - here the elite resided with corresponding income. It reminded us a little of Kampen on Sylt...

The 'Vineyard Lady' then brought us back to Hyannis, from where we headed to Provincetown...
