The beautiful sides of Potsdam have given us a feeling of home. The storyteller on Saturday evening was a successful event for our children. At least our daughter was very happy about the fairy dust on her hand. We think it's a nice idea and listen to a little fairy tale together on a summer evening.
A Sunday visit from my mother and brother to the campsite also contributed to the theme of home. It's August 4, 2019, it's a sunny day on the campsite. We eat together, take walks, stroll around, and walk along the beach. The children swim in the lake. We have coffee together and eat very good cake. You actually get everything you need at this beautiful campsite. Even our clothesline is now somehow acceptable and can hold our beach towels. Still a useful privacy screen :-) The camping neighbors across from us are already greeting each other, we are getting into more regular conversations. It remains pleasant, a mood that we welcome very much.
Sunday comes to an end and we quickly plan our departure for Monday. We leave the place with mixed feelings because our children are deeply saddened as they have always felt connected to Potsdam, Potsdam has always been their familiar environment during their holidays and they also miss their family members and their grandfather... Friends at the campsite add to the pain of saying goodbye. But we want to move on, we had a destination, we don't want to lose sight of it. Besides, the weather is about to change. Rain, sun, cloud mix throughout Germany. So the next morning, we're sitting in the car on the highway towards Bastorf, Baltic Sea, fully loaded again. An old friend from my husband's time in the military is welcoming us on his property there. We're curious. The car ride is sunny and we take breaks, let our souls dangle, let time pass by us. No pressure, no stress from the outside, no traffic jam can harm us. We had a good journey. Almost 2.5 hours later, we arrive at the garden gate and embrace each other tightly. The men haven't seen each other for over 20 years, the last time was in the military. A beautiful reunion...
