Day 1 in Foz do Iguaçu and Buenos Aires

Diterbitkeun: 10.02.2017

After flying to Iguaçu on Sunday, we went to the world-famous waterfalls of Iguaçu for the first time on Monday (the Argentinian side is called Iguazu). We took a bus to the entrance of the Brazilian National Park. There, we took a bus into the park. As soon as we got off the bus, a clever coati stole our bread... After that, we went on a short trail that led us to the Devil's Throat. This is the largest and most famous waterfall of Iguaçu. We were able to take some beautiful pictures there and feel the power of these falls for the first time.

After this trail, we went on another trail that we took by bike, on foot, by boat, and by canoe. It led us through the quieter and, in our opinion, more beautiful part of the park. On this trail, we saw a caiman, various spiders and butterflies, and a capybara, among other things. Then we went home, had dinner, had a Caipirinha, and went to bed.

The next day, we went to the Argentinian side of the Iguazu Waterfalls. There are several more trails to walk on that side, which we also did. On the Argentinian side, we also took a boat into the waterfalls. There, we could feel the true power of these immensely large falls. In the evening, we went out to eat rodizio. And then we went to bed early because we were very tired.

On our last day in Iguaçu, we slept in first. Then we decided to go to the Itaipu Dam to visit it. This visit was very impressive because the Itaipu Dam, with its 196m height and 8km length, was the largest dam in the world for a long time. We were able to visit the dam from the inside as well, among other things. It is truly gigantic (see pictures).

On Thursday, we took the transport to the airport in Iguazu (Argentina). From there, we flew to Buenos Aires. When we arrived, we checked into our hotel and realized during the subsequent meal: Rémy forgot his insulin in Fox do Iguaçu. So in Buenos Aires, we went from pharmacy to pharmacy and finally found new insulin with the help of our receptionist. After this short, stressful interlude, we went out in the evening with Marina, a distant acquaintance of Fabian's.

Today, we slept in and then went to the center of Buenos Aires. We visited this as part of a free walking tour. Among other things, we saw the Congress, the Plaza del Mayo, the Obelisk, and much more. Now we're back at the hotel and will go out for dinner later.
