The last days in Chiang Mai..

Diterbitkeun: 14.03.2017

We took it easy on the day after our return to Chiang Mai. We didn't have any specific plans and recovered from the long scooter ride. We spent the day very successfully by 'doing nothing' and went to our bar in the evening. We ended the evening with live music and a beer.

The next morning, our prayers were answered and we found a German restaurant on the internet that offered breakfast. The offer looked abundant, fresh, and simply delicious. We had to go there. When we arrived, we were surprised by the cozy ambiance in the style of a German beer garden, surrounded by large trees and bushes. The price was higher than the regular breakfasts offered and the expectations were high. And we were rewarded!!! There were rolls, eggs, ham, salami, fried potatoes...and so on...it was more than worth its money!! Such a great breakfast is hard to find in Germany. The whole 'breakfast ceremony' was accompanied by subtly played live music.

In the evening, we booked a traditional Thai cooking class. In a group of 10 people, we had the opportunity to get to know Thai cuisine better and cook the classics ourselves. Juno, our cooking teacher, was in a great mood and it was a pleasure to listen to him explain the dishes. At the beginning, we could choose which classics to cook. Juno took us shopping at a small market and explained the most important ingredients for the most common dishes. There were some fruits and herbs that we didn't even know. Back at the cooking school, we started right away. Chopping, frying, eating...Chopping, frying, eating...and all that with 5 courses. We obviously enjoyed it very much :) As a conclusion, each 'student' received a lovingly designed cookbook. Our two even with a signature ;) .

The following days, we spent our time sleeping in, taking it easy, and staying relaxed.

At noon, we visited the Art in Paradise museum, a museum that impresses visitors with optical illusions.

On Saturday evening, we went to the famous night market. It was a highlight that everyone should experience. A great market. Countless food stalls, plenty of handmade souvenirs, lamps, wooden carvings, glass figures blown on site, jewelry...and much more could be found there. Not to mention the many clothing stalls. There was also live music at every corner of this market. However, this market is no longer a secret tip. Masses of people, tourists as well as locals, crowded there. We would have liked to buy up entire stands...but the backpack is too small and the journey is still long. So we stayed with being amazed and taking great pictures.

On recommendation, we went to another market on Sunday evening. It was supposed to be even bigger and more exciting. So a must for us. We went there by tuk-tuk, our first tuk-tuk ride in Thailand. Certainly not our last ride in such a vehicle. Without doors and with a fast driving style on three wheels, the tuk-tuk convinced us completely :) The market itself offered very similar things to the Saturday market. However, for us it lacked flair and uniqueness. We spent almost 3 hours there without experiencing anything really special. For us, this trip was a disappointment. But maybe it was simply because the Saturday market completely captivated and convinced us. A greater distance between visiting the two markets might have made it look better.

On Monday morning, as a conclusion of our stay in Chiang Mai, we went to the German beer garden again for breakfast. Once again, it blew us away, if we had any socks on :D. After being freshly energized, we headed to the airport and left Chiang Mai behind. It was a really nice time and a great start in Thailand. But now Bangkok is calling us and the south finally wants to be explored.
