After a good breakfast in the vineyard garden, we went uphill for 10 km. The little Citroen had to struggle (mostly in first gear) to reach around 1300 m. Above the clouds, you really do feel a little closer to heaven. The parking lot was already very full at 9.30 a.m. and almost all hikers had the same goal: a descent of around 400 m, past levadas, through a dense forest, often down many natural stone steps to the 25 springs. If you descend 400 m, you have to climb them again, but that's what we wanted! A large waterfall and many small ones were an impressive goal! We don't know whether there are actually 25 springs, but the bubbling water from the rock walls is impressive. The sun had risen higher on the way back, so we arrived back at the car after 3.5 hours, well exhausted. The rest of the time was rest and enjoying the sun on our little terrace with a view of the Atlantic. Around 7 p.m. it gets cooler and the clouds hang lower, resulting in a slightly damp veil that is very good for the vines, vegetables and flowers here.
