Dear all, we have arrived in paradise 😍
But let's start at the beginning.
On 01.03. we said goodbye to the beautiful little town of Kampot and headed to the island.
Originally, we wanted to visit the city of Sihanoukville after Kampot in southern Cambodia. But after various reports that the entire city is supposed to be a construction site, we decided against it and booked a ferry to Koh Rong Samloem on the same day.
And it was the right decision!
After a 2.5-hour bus ride, we arrived in Sihanoukville, or rather in the construction site city. Yes, it's true...the entire, really the entire city is a construction site! All streets were torn up and construction was everywhere.
Really terrible.
We had to endure for 2 hours, then the wild ferry ride began.
The speedboat lived up to its name 🙈 oh God, we crashed into the water...that was quite something and we were both relieved to arrive on Koh Rong Samloem after 45 minutes 🤢
Hardly off the speedboat, we were done for! We were both totally amazed.
We found our own little paradise! 🏝❤️
And we immediately extended our originally booked 2 nights to 4 nights 😍
Just take a few days to completely switch off and relax, that's what we need after a month of traveling!
And that's exactly what we did!
After breakfast on the first morning, we lay down on the beach loungers and spent the day there 😍
The second day was a bit adventurous 😊
We walked across the island to Lazy Beach. Pure jungle, we tell you.
On the way back, we actually encountered some monkeys living in the wild. 🐒🐒🐒
Fortunately, we had a little protector, the dog from the restaurant at Lazy Beach, with us, who scared the monkeys away from the path and onto the trees.
Seeing such animals in the wild is somehow a strange feeling.
The next two days, we found a nice spot on the beach and enjoyed the sun.
So the wonderful 5 days on the island passed by quickly, but it was really good to relax and do nothing for a change.
Back on the mainland, we took the bus back to Phnom Penh.
We decided to make a stopover because 12 hours bus ride after the relaxing days on the island was too much for us.
Tomorrow we will continue our journey with a 6-hour bus ride to the north of Cambodia - to Siem Reap!
