Saturday, 09.11.19: Wind! A captain's old friend and foe! Today you are my foe! The whale watching trip had to be canceled because of the strong winds 😭 But as we are going to Hermanus, a town known for good chances of spotting whales from shore, I don't lose hope. After strolling over a nice farmers market, eating pastries and trying the wine, we have a walk along the coast. I keep squinting at the glistening waters but no luck. The whales are shy today. But I can spot some seals and dolphins. We move on to a colony of African Penguins in Betties Bay. They are highly endangered due to overfishing and the destruction of their habitats, but here they are well protected. Cute, but a bit smelly 😋 On our way back to Cape Town we take a beautiful coastal road and enjoy the views. As we come into Cape Town, we pass the biggest township Khayelitsha and our wonderful tour guide Rochelle explains to us the history of the townships and the newest developments. Then it is time to say goodbye. One by one we are dropped off at our different accommodations. It was one of the greatest and most intense weeks I had in my life. Our tour guide Rochelle was the best, also a big shout out to Earthstompers (the tour organizer). I can really recommend this tour. Now I will have another full week in Cape Town. I'm looking forward to unpacking and having my own room and bathroom, as I'll be staying in an Airbnb in Camps Bay 😁
