Day 42 - originally

E hatisitsoe: 13.06.2019

After the extremely exciting day yesterday, we plan to spend the time on the island with not much else than laziness. Because we don't want to have breakfast in the restaurant in our resort every day, we want to buy some milk (we still have cornflakes) and vegetables. Since the only real shops are in the main village on the island, we start the day with a walk to exactly this place. The path goes along the beach and then through a very original forest area. The island is only partially developed for tourism and accordingly, we experience real jungle feeling for the first time.

The village itself may not make the most decent impression due to the many construction sites, but it still has charm. You have the feeling of being in a really authentic fishing village. We get some vegetables and milk and then, because we definitely won't survive the return journey without breakfast, we have breakfast in a local place - English breakfast. Maybe not what you would expect here, but since there is no real breakfast culture in Southeast Asia, it is the closest option. We are thrilled in any case (4€ per person - 10/10). Sounds kind of sad, but English breakfast is always a good choice!

We take a look around the really small village, and then make our way back home

We arrive at our tent, store our things, and jump into the water. This time you can call it a refreshment. The water is a pleasant 28°C - cold enough that you want to go in more often and warm enough that you can stay in for an hour without any problem. After this welcome cooling down, we relax a bit on the towels and observe the funny little flies, which sting a bit and leave small red, round dots on the skin without any itching. Jonna lies in the hammock and I treat myself to some time in the lobby/restaurant.

Evening falls, Jonna joins me and we eat. I have coconut curry, Jonna has fries and bruschetta, both very tasty! Tonight there is a quiz in the lobby (see last picture), answer sheets are distributed and we team up with two girls from the nearby table - they are also German (What do you mean also; the vast majority here are English-speaking compatriots and French people).

We feel like we're doing pretty well, but end up in 4th place out of 8. Despite superficial small talk, it was a lot of fun because the mood among all participants is lively. It should be mentioned that the common area is heavily used by all travelers staying here, so there is always something going on. After the award ceremony, we go to our tent and enjoy the camping atmosphere in the cozy bed.
