After enjoying the beautiful little towns and special places of Tuscany, we are now driven to one of the special big cities of Siena.
Siena has its own charm and we are greeted by a bustling hustle and bustle. We park our car in a garage just outside the walls of the old town and stroll leisurely to our accommodation, which is located in the middle of the city. Here we are welcomed by a very special flag parade that wanders through the streets of Siena until late in the evening.
Siena is an Italian city in Tuscany known for its medieval brick buildings. The fan-shaped main square, the Piazza del Campo, is home to the Gothic town hall (Palazzo Pubblico) and the Torre del Mangia. From the characteristic white crown of the narrow 14th century tower there is a wide panoramic view. The city's 17 historic "contrade" (districts) extend around the piazza.
We enjoy the time and stroll through the streets of the city, and of course we can't miss a visit to the DOM. Our recommendation: Treat yourself to the large entrance ticket and you can enjoy the city with several very special views. The corridor and the dome with a breathtaking view and the corridor over the aisle and the arch were unique
Siena Cathedral is the mother church of the Archdiocese of Siena in the ecclesiastical region of Tuscany. Today the brick structure, faced with characteristic dark green and white marble, is one of the most important examples of Gothic architecture in Italy
Of course, the stairs of the city lead us to the typical small cafés with the delicious cappucini and croissants and sweeten us a little break here too.
Siena with its beautiful views and unique panoramas is really worth a visit and is a really nice end to our trip to Tuscany. Siena thank you very much for the nice time.
