Hello my dears🖐️😃

We started well in Malaysia. At first, I couldn't imagine much about Malaysia. But it impressed us positively from the beginning. The population (mostly Muslims) is very friendly, helpful, and tolerant.

We started by boat from Thailand (Koh Lipe) to our first destination in Malaysia, the island of Langkawi. Langkawi is the largest island in Malaysia and is also popular with locals.

When we arrived at the harbor, we took a taxi to our hostel (Zackry Guesthouse). We immediately felt at home there. The owners were super nice and had four lovely dogs. There was a small kitchen and a common room with lots of knick-knacks.

For the next few days, we rented a scooter. Among other things, we visited three different waterfalls. We liked the Seven Wells Waterfalls the most. You can admire them from below first. But we also wanted to see them from above. After a short but strenuous hike, we made it (at 90% humidity, you easily start sweating). It was beautiful up there, and you could cool off in the river. Only the many monkeys are really annoying. They constantly try to steal your food and drinks. Which they eventually succeeded in.

On another day, we visited the Lama Padis (rice fields). It was very interesting. Then we headed towards the mountain. We took the cable car up and had a nice view of the island and the sea from above. Up there, there is also a sky bridge that you can walk on. We dared to do it, but we got a bit nervous. It goes very deep down, and in some places, the floor is even made of glass. The Skycap also includes other activities that are included in the entrance fee. The 3D museum was definitely a lot of fun, and you definitely take 1000 pictures in front of the funny wall paintings.

Another highlight was the night market. It takes place every evening but always in a different part of the island. You can try local food there, very good and cheap.

We really liked Langkawi. It is touristy, but if you explore the island on your own, you will find lonely beaches and places.
So, then we continued to George Town on the island of Penang. But Lars will tell you about that in the next post.

Bye bye and greetings from 🇲🇾✌️

Anita
