Again the whole day sun, sun, sun
On the way north we take time for a hike to Briksdalsbreen, a famous side glacier of the mighty Jostedalsbreen. The drive through the beautiful Oldental already offers great views of smaller, less known side glaciers, countless waterfalls and two large lakes.
The actual hike leads steadily uphill and takes about an hour to the lake into which the glacier water rushes. When Gondula was here once as a geography student on an excursion in 1980, a broad glacier tongue still reached into the lake. In the meantime, it has become smaller and has retreated into the upper part of the rock crevice. Nevertheless, one can still imagine the primal forces of the mighty ice mass, which can be seen from below to some extent and have shaped the overwhelming Norwegian fjord landscape.
