Welcome to Koh Samui!

E hatisitsoe: 07.03.2020

After an amazing domestic flight, we have arrived at our second destination: Koh Samui. A short note about the flight: we flew with Bangkok airways and we were really impressed. With a flight time of 1 hour and 10 minutes, we didn't expect to have hot (very delicious) food, hot drinks, and water bottles. Big compliments to the airline, we would gladly fly with them again!

In addition, the Koh Samui airport was also really great. When you arrive, you immediately feel like you're on vacation. Very well-maintained and beautifully landscaped 😊👍🏼

Another tip, don't book a transfer with your accommodation. We paid 400 Baht, which is between 10-15 €. Actually not expensive by GERMAN standards, but for about five minutes drive and for THAI standards, it's way too much. First check if it's worth it for you. If you're close to the airport, like us, it's definitely not worth it.

We also want to tell you a little bit about our accommodation.

And let's be honest, there is a difference when you switch from a super luxurious room on the 29th floor in Bangkok to a small wooden bungalow where you can barely turn around.

The bed is rock hard, and whether you want to know it or not, toilet paper cannot be thrown into the toilet. That means you clean yourself with the water hose that is mounted next to the toilet. Or you just take a shower directly. It's not great, but you get used to it.

Through the gaps in our floor, I can look down into the grass and earlier there was a thumb-size (super cute!) lizard in our room.

That doesn't bother us personally. The bungalow is clean and we only need 7 seconds to get to the beach. The shower has hot water (not always common here) and we have everything we need nearby. Plus, we have an air conditioner, without which I would probably freak out.

However, this is not suitable for those with higher expectations, and definitely not for those who value luxury. In that case, you just have to look a bit higher in terms of price.

Nevertheless, we actually feel very comfortable here. We just wanted to 'warn' you. 😁 It's not luxurious, but charming and it sticks in your head. We kind of like that. 😊
