Yes, today it was all about 'A day at the beach in Golden Sands Resort'. Since Penang is more of an industrial city and the mosques and pagodas were closed, we decided to have a day at the beach.
So, we went to the Golden Sands Resort with 40 people in a bus. Unfortunately, the journey took a bit longer than planned due to a stupid construction site, so we arrived there after about 1 hour.
The hotel complex was huge, very touristy, lots of women in burkas and burkinis, but that's just how it is in Malaysia with many Muslims. The beach was nice to look at, but the water was very brownish, so it was far from the clear water in Barbados. Also, there were warnings about jellyfish. We only took photos at the beach and enjoyed ourselves in the beautiful pool area of the hotel.
For lunch, there was a typical warm and cold buffet including desserts. Super Satay skewers with peanut sauce, really delicious!!
Well, time flies when you're swimming and having fun, and after 4.5 hours and a Tiger Beer at the bar, we headed back to the AIDAbella.
Since the ship had to leave the pier at 10:00 AM and was anchored when we returned from the excursion, we had to tender back to the ship. A tender boat can hold around 80-100 people, but the crossing was short and uneventful.
The AIDAbella sets sail again at 6:00 PM and then it's off to Kuala Lumpur.
