On 7.3. we continue and leave the Catalonia region towards Valencia. Peter is gradually getting used to handling the toll stations, which have been unmanned and fully automated since France. Once we managed to enter the wrong lane - it was really fun to drive backwards with the complete trailer and stress all the cars behind us. But it got even more amusing when Peter once tried to redeem his fuel receipt instead of the toll ticket and (understandably) almost despaired, or when instead of simply grabbing the toll ticket that automatically appears when starting, he pressed the red emergency button to be connected to a helpful staff member. - so we never get bored on the journey. ;D
Our first stop in the Valencia region is at Torre La Sal in Ribera de Cabanes. All the residents of our campsite are retirees from all parts of Germany who have spent their winter here and will soon return to Germany for the summer. - We are a little surprised how many participate in this questionable Spanish temporary aid program. (?! :-) As soon as we parked our caravan, 5 grandpas were ready to push it, and overall we are the highlight at the place, especially with the baby. - Hopefully it was not a mistake to spend 3 whole nights here// but everyone is very nice to us, so it will surely be a good time.
Day 6 - Oropesa del Mar
Today after an extended breakfast, we walked with the stroller along the developed cycle paths along the beach to the next town, Oropesa. On the way there, we passed huge yet empty residential blocks and hotel complexes that were all being prepared for the season. In the summer, an incredible tourist hot spot seems to be artificially created here. Even the sand on the beach has been piled up. In view of this scale, we were very glad to be able to experience this holiday region still in winter sleep.
On 9.3. we went to the market in Oropesa del Mar, bought lots of fresh fruits and vegetables as well as various types of Serrano and spent the afternoon at the beach. Mind you, exclusively on land, as the water temperature is only 14 degrees.
