Many campers suggest traveling with constant sunshine, looking at the starry sky before falling asleep and a sunrise that shines directly into bed when the rear door is opened. In order to experience this, I should leave Germany as quickly as possible and drive through to the Mediterranean. However, this wouldn't be traveling but rather rushing: so the first stopover would be at Königssee in Berchtesgadener Land. The weather forecast shows a lot of clouds, but at least hardly any rain and the area is very photogenic.
To gently start the transition from living in a house to living in a camper, I choose a campsite for the first few nights.
On the first day the magic forest and the Hintersee were on the program. If I'm taking photos at the lake and need to get a little further into the water to get a better composition, I do this by rock hopping. The camera tripod can stand still in the water as long as you hold yourself standing on a stone or balancing above the surface of the water. After several hours of successful photography, I returned to the car with wet feet. As an engineer, I plan with redundancies, so after drying my feet I was able to slip into the second, still dry pair of hiking boots. Great way to start my vacation, but I still have a few months to improve my grip. Visited the thermal baths in the evening to thaw out.

The next day we took a boat trip on the Königssee to St. Bartholomä. In the off-season, I was the only European who had the boat almost to myself, apart from the 79 Asians on the fully booked electric steamer. Why do they travel to Germany in the middle of winter while my goal was to leave the same country? Experience has shown that Asian tourists don't walk much and so I was able to regain the freedom of hiking quickly after arrival. Unfortunately, I couldn't reach a photogenic ice cave due to the deep snow, but the atmosphere at the lake was gigantic.
The weather changed and rain was forecast from the second half of the day and the next few days. A new plan is needed.
The summary of the first days of travel: Water from above in the form of rain or lake water from below is not fun for me, but it creates atmospheric images. Warm water in the thermal baths, on the other hand, is very pleasant from all sides.
Vehicle Component: The standout vehicle component of the post is the solar panels mounted on the roof. Not that they would generate electricity in this weather, but they significantly reduce the noise of the pelting rain during the night.
