It started to rain and it was extremely heavy. He then said that we should skip a stop (viewpoint of the volcanoes). Nobody had any objections, so we drove on. I was already at this place the day before yesterday and today I wouldn't have seen much anyway because of the rain and fog. So we went to the next spot where we could see alpacas, babies too. Really sweet. And otherwise a nice view there too. Then we moved on and made a quick stop at a cafeteria with a toilet. Took a few nice photos there and then drove almost 2 hours back to Arequipa. The ride was relaxed. I heard some music. We said a quick goodbye in Arequipa. So apart from the two from Serbia, my group was pretty much on its own. Our guide tried hard and he couldn't do anything about the food or accommodation. But I wouldn't book this tour again, even though I'm glad I did it. I talked to someone who did the Salkantay Trail in Cusco, which I might also want to do. She said the difficulty was the same as the current hike, only 4 or 5 days. And where it rained, it was of course less fun. And since rain is forecast in Cusco for the next few days and the tread on my hiking boots is already worn out, I decided against it. I'll stay in Cusco for 3 or 4 days, maybe a day trip to Machu Picchu or a 1 day hike and then spend a few more days in Lima in the warm sun. Will book a flight to Lima and accommodation there this evening. After we said goodbye, I went to the main square and was sprayed with foam spray. But since everyone does this, I didn't take it personally. Although I don't celebrate Carnival in Cologne, Carnival has also arrived in Peru. There's a lot of celebration going on here this weekend and I ordered a coffee from a café on a terrace in the main square and watched the show. I'll go shopping soon and then go to the hotel because we'll continue tomorrow around 4:30. Even though the trip didn't have all its highlights, I'm once again happy about my vacation and my great experiences!
