Na Trang, Tuy Hoa, Quy Ngon

Hello everyone,
after having a good breakfast in Da Lat, we hit the road again. We enjoyed the pleasantly cool air for the last time as we rode through the pine forests. Suddenly, we went downhill steeply and many motorcyclists came rushing towards us. We descended down a mountain pass of about 30 kilometers to sea level (from about 1500 meters above sea level), passing through patches of fog, breathtaking waterfalls, and riverbeds. There were also many daring overtakes by truck and bus drivers, even on hairpin curves. Now that Matthias knows why people go to the Alps for motorcycling, we stopped for a refreshment at the bottom. After just another 40 kilometers, we arrived in Na Trang early in the afternoon. There, Camilla had another oil change after the hardships in the mountains, and also a new tube in the tire, as it seemed to be losing air. Afterwards, there was some sightseeing to the Po Nagar Cham Towers and the beach promenade. On the road, we passed by a Vietnamese restaurant in the evening, which had very delicious-looking steaks on the grill, so we had to try them. In another restaurant, we had draft beer for 10,000 Dong (about 40 cents), which we couldn't resist. The next day, we continued along the coast to the north. Along the way, we tried to escape the rain, but it wasn't easy. However, the wind quickly dried our clothes. We passed by coastal roads, islands, sand dunes, steep cliffs, shrimp and fish farms, trash mountains, lighthouses, and small fishing villages. The road was sometimes in the condition of a dirt road and sometimes like a brand new highway, more like a runway. We decided to stop in Tuy Hoa and enjoyed the rest of the evening there. Today, we made our way to Quy Ngon, where we passed by the Da Dia rock formations. During an upcoming rain shower, we hid by the road for a lunch. But it was very difficult to escape the rain, as it lasted for only 2 minutes, but was very strong. Once we arrived in Quy Ngon, we looked for and checked into the hotel, where we had a hot shower first. Then we went to the promenade for a walk on the beach. Tonight, we tried something new Vietnamese (at least we assume so, most people here don't speak English). We had meat skewers, which are wrapped in a rice dough roll with salad, cucumbers, and something similar to rice wafers. With a delicious sauce, these rolls tasted simply amazing! :D Tomorrow, we will continue along the coast to the north, let's see how far we get.
See you then,
Malia
