Xi'an Day 3: Terracotta Army

E hatisitsoe: 23.10.2018

Hello everybody,

Today we got out of bed at 6am again, as we wanted to be on time and ahead of the crowds at the Terracotta Army.

So we did. After an unpleasant 4.5 hours of sleep, we were in a bad mood. We're not morning people or anything....

First, we had to go to the train station, and on the way there, a man approached us if we still needed to buy tickets.

Looking back, it went really well, Shawn, around 50 years old, is a really cool guy. 🤙🏽 An Irishman who has been living in Melbourne for 20 years, then went to the Terracotta Army with us.

On the way back, we separated from him again, but it was really nice to have met him.

The Terracotta Army actually fascinated us as well. Three large halls, where the large excavation sites are displayed. The first discovery was made in 1974, many of you oldies were already in the world😂 👵🧓🏽

Recently, the Terracotta Army has been recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Emperor Qin Shihuangdi, at the age of 13 in his dynasty, commissioned his employees to build an army of sculptures for him. Its purpose is to protect and defend him in death in his tomb from everything and everyone. It is said that over 700,000 people worked on it during his lifetime. Crazy shit, right? At the age of 13, he comes up with the idea. Today, at the age of 13, he can barely walk straight, if at all. We can't do it at 22 either 🤦🏽‍♀️ But we're aliens after all 🤷🏽‍♀️ So, we're forgiven.

It's crazy that every warrior, every officer, and all the other sculptures have a different face, as if they took examples.

In any case, in the Great Hall, the warriors and horses in the front (usually two rows) have a different meaning than those in the back. Unfortunately, I forgot which one. Sorry 😂

And even today, many workers are still digging down there. So it's not guaranteed yet how many warriors there were in total.

In any case, very impressive.

We have been in the hotel since 3:30 p.m. today and completely exhausted. Another 14 km today, our legs and feet are really starting to hurt.

After stuffing ourselves in a restaurant (they simply can't speak ANY English and the payment and communication was really a struggle), we just pack our stuff for departure and relax hard😛

Tomorrow morning, we will get up at 6 a.m. and go to Chengdu. A small city with 15 million people.

PS: Shawn had the same experiences with the Chinese as we did. He also finds everything here strange, their behavior takes some getting used to and he also has problems finding real food.

So maybe we're not so weird after all, or maybe he's also an alien 👽 .....

Lara
Ja die Köpfe waren sehr begrenzt...😂😂 danke euch 😘😘
