Helloooo friends ππΎ
We're checking in again, it's been a while π€.
On Sunday, we took the ferry from Langkawi to Penang, Georgetown. The ride itself was quite relaxing, Jasna was knocked out for 3 hours thanks to the motion sickness tablet and Lara managed to take a little nap too.
When we arrived in Penang, the three of us didn't feel like walking 2 km to the hostel in 33 degrees Celsius, so we took a taxi. Since they're everywhere and constantly bothering you here, we didn't have to look for one for long.
Our hotel was actually quite nice, with a small terrace and a common area.
The only downside was that Lara and Juli didn't have internet on their floor π€¦π½ββ π. After settling into our rooms, we went to do some laundry.
Doing the laundry at the laundromat was not a problem at all. But drying it turned out to be difficult π. We sat there for a solid 2 hours, and the clothes just wouldn't dry in the dryer!!! π€¦π½ββ. After 3 cycles in the dryer and 1 beer, we gave up and went to the nearest laundry service to have it dried there π€¦π½ββ. The rest of the day, we just relaxed, ate, had coffee, and chilled.
The next morning, after breakfast, we immediately went to rent scooters again. This time we had Vespas π.Β
We actually wanted to go to the beach π. However, the first 2 beaches were deserted and not really inviting, and at the 3rd one, we couldn't swim because there were either only local men or women wearing headscarves or burqas π€¦π½ββ π. So we just kept driving and ended up seeing the entire island. The roads were amazing, just rainforest everywhere and not much happening - and the view was absolutely stunning.
After a quick snack at KFC and a nice ride on the highway with the scooters (none of us felt comfortable with that π), we arrived back at the hotel and got ready for - you guessed it - dinner and coffee ππ½ π.
Yesterday, we went - once again with our cool scooters - to visit a temple because we didn't know what else to do. As always, we got lucky and the temple was a hidden gem, really beautiful and quite big π₯³.
After that, we wanted to check out the beach promenade. Unfortunately, it didn't exist because it was under construction and fenced off π€¦π½ββ. So we visited another temple with the biggest lying Buddha and then went back to the hotel.
We were so tired that we had to take a nap π. Then came our favorite activity of the day: FOOOOOD. We actually wanted to go to a night market.. well, it consisted of only 3 stands selling some weird stuff and nothing else π. But don't worry, we didn't starve, there was a pizza place just around the corner with everything you could ask for ππ½ββ. After that, we sat down in a cafΓ© and then continued to a bar for happy hour π₯³. Unfortunately, the cocktails there were not recommendable at all unless you like pure liquor π€’. Since that was really too much, we got some beer and went back to the hotel.
Today was Juli's last day. We stayed at the hotel until 12 o'clock and then went into town to check out the street art - Georgetown is famous for it, after all.
At 2 o'clock, we moved to Lara's and Jasna's next hostel. Guys, it's so cool, we're sleeping in capsules. It feels like being in a rocket π ππ.
We then spent some time at a shopping center and had some food before we drove Juli to the airport.
Tomorrow we'll continue to Ipoh π, where hopefully we'll have better internet to write more π€.
With that being said, have a nice day, Adios πππΎ
