Tierra del Fuego National Park

E hatisitsoe: 19.01.2019

After 5 days of luxury, we are back to the wilderness. The Tierra del Fuego National Park is located between the Chilean border and Ushuaia and is a hiking paradise. It offers everything from easy walks to 8-hour hikes.

Additionally, this is also the end of Route 3, which starts in Buenos Aires and crosses all of Argentina. Of course, there is a huge sign pointing this out.

If you pay the entrance fee, you are allowed to stay in the park for two nights and three days. As some of you know, hiking is not really my thing, so after the 3 days, I have had enough for now.

On the first day, we hiked along the beautiful coves of the Beagle Channel. The weather was unusually warm for Ushuaia.

We paid for this on the second day during our big hike. We hiked up to 973 meters (starting from almost 0) through a Patagonian rainforest, knee-deep mud holes, and scree. Constantly accompanied by wind, rain, hail, and snow. I enjoyed the mud, and Jonas enjoyed the steep climb that followed. So, there was something for everyone. In the evening, our efforts were rewarded with an ice-cold shower under our outdoor shower. So COLD, COLD, COLD!

After an equally cold night, the motivation to hike was rather low. When the weather cleared up, we hiked to a small waterfall and along beaver dams.
