Somewhat wistfully, we set off this morning as we now leave the South Island. We have just under 2 weeks left for the North Island, which we are very excited about.
We would have liked to take a day trip to the Marlborough Sounds, which are definitely worth a visit. However, since we did not have suitable weather yesterday and we are driving along the coast on our way to the ferry to Picton anyway, we have been able to see some of this scenic highlight along the way, albeit somewhat cloudy. Here in the Marlborough Sounds, Captain Cook was the first European to set foot on New Zealand soil in 1770. Unfortunately, due to the rain today, we were unable to enjoy the magnificent views of the bay landscape. But one can imagine how the lush green of the land between the blue of the sea and the sky makes you start to dream again.
After 3.5 hours, we arrive in Wellington in heavy rain and strong winds. Here too, we can only imagine the beautiful cityscape from the water in the gray. However, we are surprised in our apartment by the magnificent view of the bay, it is really amazing. Even in heavy rain, strong winds up to a storm, and the rough sea, it is an experience!
