I never thought it would happen so quickly or at all, but I have a new family 🙈
Just a few hours into my rematch, two families reached out on Monday. One from Virginia near Washington DC and the other, like my current family, from Illinois. I talked and Skyped with the family from Virginia a few times. The family from Illinois is only an hour away from my current family, so they invited me for dinner on Thursday and picked me up. The family from Virginia already told me on Wednesday that they would like to have me as their au pair, but I wanted to wait for the dinner since the family from Illinois was my favorite. On Friday, I received a call from the family in Illinois saying they really enjoyed the evening and would like to have me as their au pair. I was so happy and of course immediately agreed. After that, I only had to "just" cancel with the other family. That wasn't easy, since I've never done anything like that before. On one hand, it was really nice to have a choice and be able to decide, but on the other hand, it was also tough to have to cancel with the other family because they were really nice too.
But now I have a really great family, and I hope I haven't been mistaken again.
Yesterday, I visited Chicago with four other au pairs. Unfortunately, I arrived later and got lost at first. But I eventually found the others :D Chicago is huge and it seems like there are only skyscrapers there.
Depending on how things progress with my new family and when I join them, I will go to Chicago again on Friday evening with other au pairs to see the meteor shower, and then on Saturday, we'll go to the beach.
