On to Knysna

Unfortunately, everything comes to an end, including our safari in the Shamwari Game Reserve. After the last game drive this morning, it was time to pack up and say goodbye.

Today's game drive took us back to the middle of the reserve, where we were looking for rhinos. It didn't take long before we found them. After that, we searched for some birds. We found the secretary bird, a very interesting bird that walks funny while searching for food. We also found the blue crane, the national bird of South Africa. Later, we looked for the Knysna lourie in the forest and found that bird as well. Then it was time to go back and pack up. After breakfast, we checked out and said goodbye to Nina (the lodge manager) and Jason (our guide). It wasn't easy.

The journey from Shamwari to Knysna was enjoyable and varied on the highway. We left Shamwari around 11:00 am and arrived in Knysna before 4:00 pm.

For the evening, Nicole (a Swiss) recommended the Olive Tree restaurant to us, which has the best beef fillet. We can now confirm that it is extremely delicious.

One more thing, many may have enjoyed and wondered about the beautiful pictures. There are also other things, but we consciously only photographed the beautiful ones. We don't want to show the not so beautiful ones unfiltered. South Africa is on the path to opening up, but it has not yet arrived. The Coloureds are in power, but not much has changed. The ethnic groups still live in their areas and there is no mixing. While there are Coloured people with good jobs, most of them still live in the townships. It takes time and a lot of mutual understanding and trust to come together.
