Back to Great Britain, heading north!

In Dublin I actually got a few drops of rain for the first time since mid-June, but after 3 minutes it was over ;-)

Otherwise, today was a long journey, first 2.5 hours on the ferry back to Holyhead, then 6 hours by train through the beautiful landscape and along the North coast of Wales, then through Northwest England with the Lake District and quite a long way through the southern part of Scotland. However, since the ferry didn't leave Dublin until after 2 p.m., I didn't arrive in Glasgow until around 11 p.m. Train delays sometimes have their advantages, since the direct train to Glasgow was late, I could save myself one transfer and half an hour of train ride, according to the regular schedule I would have had to take a detour with an additional transfer, since I wouldn't have caught that one.

Fortunately, the cheapest available room at the very centrally located and cozy Glasgow Metro Youth Hostel was surprisingly a single room, so I didn't disturb anyone when I checked in late. Another advantage was that since Birmingham I always had at least one extreme snorer in the room, sometimes so loud that even earplugs didn't help, because the whole room started to vibrate :-D

Right when I arrived at the train station, I already had a conversation with a friendly local, who was quite happy about England's elimination from the World Cup, so that seems to be the general mood here. However, I have to admit that I only understood about 2/3 of everything he said, Scottish is definitely a bit harder to understand than the Brummie accent in Birmingham ;-)
