What a long, yet very successful and beautiful day! After discussing this morning with other hikers whether the route around the northern part of Ennerdale Lake would be better to hike since it is not completely flooded unlike the southern part, we set out on our way. The first part of the route was very relaxing, winding around the quite dry lakeshore and through Canadian-looking woodlands. On the second half of the trail, which was quite hilly and challenging (since we had to cross waterfalls, among other things...), we chose to team up with a father-daughter duo from the Netherlands, an Englishman, and an American (in sneakers). In good spirits, we tackled this part as well. Proud but incredibly tired after 7 hours of hiking, we were able to enjoy our dinner by the fireplace in a lovely little accommodation.
