Like everywhere in Canada, people make use of the beautiful sunny days in autumn and there are many festivals and outdoor events. We visited the Celtic Festival with beautiful music, dances, and new board games for young and old. There was also a fairy island with a fairy, mermaid, a giant with a troll, and a little dwarf who guards the treasures.
We cheered on the cyclists during their city tour in Quebec with Allez Allez or Hop Hop. It was a great experience for the children to see the cyclists and their entire fleet, including police, service vehicles, ambulance, and helicopter, go around the 12 laps. The race started at 11:00 am and they reached the finish line at 4:20 pm. In between, we were able to rest and eat comfortably while the cyclists continued to pedal diligently. Hats off to the athletes, whom we expressed our appreciation for with applause and encouragement, even for the last cyclist. Felix even received a water bottle from a straggler as a gift.
During our time here, we discovered a cruise ship several times. You can marvel at them from above at the Esplanade in front of the Château Frontenac, or you can take the small train to the lower town and stand as a little dwarf next to the giants.
The Grand Marche of Quebec is located just outside the city, but it is easily accessible for non-drivers through the hourly shuttle bus. The bus leaves directly in front of the Château Frontenac. In the market itself, you have the agony of choice when it comes to fruits, vegetables, cheese, or bread. The variety is huge and you can even taste some of it. To keep the children entertained, there is a children's area on the second floor on weekends with its own market, games, painting, or crafting activities. We certainly spent a rainy Saturday here having fun.
