Ko Phangan

I visited the last island with a German guy I met in Ko Tao.

With Ekin, I had the most hilarious days of my trip.

Ko Phangan is famous for its Full Moon and Half Moon parties. The Half Moon party was actually happening during those days, but it was too expensive for us. Instead, we explored the beaches during the day and went to Marlay Bar in the evenings. The owner, Nom, was the coolest guy on the island. We were allowed to play our own music and drum along.

The situations with Ekin can be explained with an example: After 3 shots and 4 or 5 beers, Ekin was sticking to the refrigerator glass in the supermarket and saying 'Dude... They have all this water here just for 7Eleven (the supermarket).' My reaction: Bursting out laughing.

Another example:

Ekin: 'Lea, we have a big problem. Our fuel is almost empty. What if we get stuck in the jungle?'

Me: '... That would be so funny!'

Him: 'You're crazy.'

As you can see, we got along great!

But the highlights were definitely the monitor lizard we discovered in a pond and the 2-meter-long cobra that was crossing the road. I've never seen such beautiful creatures before. I was completely thrilled.

By the way, the best dessert in Thailand is sticky rice with mango. It's like rice pudding with mango and coconut cream.

I was also crazy enough to try eating bugs and maggots. But they only tasted like fried food and were completely unremarkable.
