On February 19th, we spent the whole day traveling by bus to get to Fortaleza.
Originally, we had planned a different travel route, but since there was a civil war in the state of Ceará since January 2nd, 2019, with already 200 attacks, we decided to change our route and avoid the state. However, we had already booked a flight to São Luís for February 20th for only 32€, which we still wanted to take. So, during the day we went to Fortaleza to catch the flight at around 3:00 AM.
The only reason we wanted to go to São Luís was the Lençois National Park. We had confirmed beforehand that we could still do the tours on February 20th, as my sister Anne had a flight to Rio de Janeiro on February 21st. Suddenly, in the afternoon, we were informed that the tour would already start at 3:15 AM, but we would only land at 4:15 AM. We spent the whole evening trying to find a way to still do the tour. But since everything was too risky and Anne could miss her flight, we had to accept that it would no longer be possible to do the tour. So, we spent the last day together in the historic center and on the beach promenade. In the evening, we went to a Churrascaria for the last time together.
On February 21st, my sister took a flight to Rio de Janeiro to spend two days there. Then she flew back to Paris from São Paulo.
