Burlington, VT (2)

Burlington is a really beautiful small town. It is the largest city in Vermont, but still has only about 50,000 inhabitants. However, the many students from the University of Vermont bring life to the entire city and make it a bit 'hipster'.

I met up with Leif, an old classmate of Zach's, at a crepe restaurant and it was really amazing there. This simple crepe restaurant had 15 taps with a variety of craft beers. That would be a dream for us!

Skinny Pancake (7.2.):

1. Queen City - Yorkshire Porter (English Porter) 5%

Smooth, pleasant porter; good drinkability

2. Lawson's Finest Liquids (/Two Roads) - Sip of Sunshine (Double IPA)

Evolution of a beer formerly very well known in Vermont ('Double Shunshine IPA'), no cloudiness

And finally the first brewery visits in the USA!

Foam Brewers (7.2.):

1. Single Wire (Keller Pils) 5%

Doesn't compare to our pilsner

2. No Vacation (Double IPA) 8.5%

Apricot, orange peel, papaya

Zero Gravity Brewing (7.2.):

1. Keller (Dry-hopped Lager) 4.9%

Tastes oxidized, a bit of mandarina bavaria

2. Little Wolf (Pale Ale) 4.7%

Opal, pleasant

3. Conehead (Different brew with Galaxy-Hops) out of the cask (IPA) 5.7%

One beer is always on tap -> slightly less CO2

4. Extra Stout (Irish Stout) 5.9%

Four Quarters Brewing (7.2.):

1. Maison (House Saison) 4.4% about 1/2 year old

Bottle fermentation, 'standard saison'

2. Fleur de Lis (Tart Saison fermented and aged in oak) 4.5% about 1 year old

Bottle fermentation, very pleasant acidity, nice interplay of flavors

In the end, we had a nightcap at the Last Stop Sports Bar, where I had a beer I already knew. It was a long time ago, and I believe it was also in the States, that I first had the Founders - All Day IPA (Session IPA) 4.7%. And at home, an IPA with lemongrass was waiting for me on the couch ;)
