After a final breakfast with the local family on Waya Lailai, we continued our journey north on the Yasawa Flyer, a large catamaran that visits the islands of Mamanucas and Yasawas daily, further away from the main island. We sailed past many islands with beautiful beaches for 2.5 hours. We settled into our little cottage on Matacawalevu Island. Directly opposite, just a 10-minute boat ride away, are the islands of Nanuya and Turtle. Turtle Island is a private island where vacationers can indulge in a very good resort, and Nanuya Island is home to the Blue Lagoon. The famous film of the same name, starring Brooke Shields and Christopher Atkins, was filmed here. A beach that truly deserves the name South Sea dream. Miles long, white and sandy, turquoise blue water and coconut palms. We spent two days here. We went swimming and snorkeling, but we actually walked across the island as well because on the other side of the island is Lo's Tea House. Our way there took us along the beach and through mangroves. We were on the road for a good hour, then we enjoyed the view of the turquoise blue sea, had a fresh lemonade and ate a still warm Fiji doughnut. We returned through the middle of the island. We walked through a small village, climbed hills, and went through coconut palm plantations. We also took a walk on our home island and discovered the island farm. After these two days of real relaxation, we returned to the main island of Viti Levu, of course not without incidents. We took the Seabus catamaran. It usually goes directly to Lautoka and takes 3 hours to get there. However, we had quite a bit of wind and high waves, and after we had invited 13 students somewhere along the way, one of the two engines failed. Our trip then took 5.5 hours. But we arrived safely and took a taxi directly to Nadi to our accommodation for the next two nights.
