Day 1, flight from Frankfurt to San Francisco

Day 1, October 1st, 2023, departure from Cologne, first with line 1 (KVB) to Deutz train station, until then so far so good. Then the adventure started faster than we would have liked. The ICE to Frankfurt Airport didn't come (Düsseldorf Cologne route closed, people on the tracks), it was getting later and later and we were in danger of missing our flight. At the last moment we jumped into a taxi that unexpectedly came to the back exit of Deutz train station (actually everything was closed, Cologne Marathon, start in front of Deutz train station). Anyway, Yilmaz gave his all with his taxi and we were at the airport 1 hour 45 minutes later. Luckily we went with another couple who wanted to go to the airport even in dire need, so we were able to share the €420. It was still 1 hour until departure and the nice lady at the counter greeted us with the news that it was too late for the suitcases, the gate was already closed. Thank God everything wasn't right, we took a chance and managed it. Board the Boeing 777 from United Airlines to San Francisco. 11 hours later we landed in San Francisco at 4:00 p.m., took the subway to the city center and were at our hotel in Union Square around 5:00 p.m. And dead tired ‼️ A little food, a good night beer and we won't get old anymore today.
