Day 8

Zell-Ediger Eller campsite on Feuerberg

I slept very well in the barrel and found it really comfortable. The cost was worth it because there was a thunderstorm and rain last night. This morning we had a quick breakfast at the campsite and then walked up to the Collisturm again. I had fun, it was a really small trail. From the top you have a great view. In general, every day I have great views down to the villages on the Moselle. The different types of slate rock are typical for the Moselle. It has varying levels of mineral content and this in turn influences the grape varieties. Riesling is harvested late, has deep roots and therefore absorbs a lot of minerals. When I walk through the vineyards, I always notice the warmth of the stone. Feels like a heater. Only met one grumpy couple on the road today. They barely managed to say hello. Funny, but there are those too. Today I just walked to Neef, then took the train for 2 minutes and strolled another 2km to the campsite. Today it was 23 km and 700 meters in altitude. I'm very grateful to my body that it doesn't show any other symptoms apart from fatigue. I chose the right equipment so far. Except for the package of trail mix that I've been carrying around with me for a week. This evening I bathed in the Moselle for the first time. Splendid.

I hope my sleeping bag is still sufficient for the nighttime temperatures.

Tomorrow I'll walk from here to Neef, then take the train back to the campsite. The advantage is that I can run a stage without a heavy backpack.
