Hu Hu,
The next day, we left the Far North without making another stop at the 90 Mile Beach, as we had already visited it with my brother, and made our way to the Bay of Islands. On the way there, we passed many beautiful places. For example, we were in a bay with crystal clear water. It was also very surprising that you only had to walk over a small rocky ridge from this beach to reach another beach. And above all, each beach more beautiful than the other. We wanted to climb a mountain and enjoy the view. Unfortunately, I didn't feel well because the weather was so oppressive and humid that I had circulatory problems. We had to turn back halfway. But even though we weren't at the top, we still had a pretty good view of the region. After a short drive, we stopped at a hiking trail that leads to a monument on a small mountain, which commemorates the sunken Greenpeace ship "Rainbow Warrior". Before we arrived at our campsite in Paihia, we visited a little waterfall nearby. The next morning, we took a ferry to Russel. Don't get me wrong, about 10 cars fit on the ferry, and because the crossing only takes 10 minutes, we paid about 8 Euros for the crossing for two people and the car :D However, the ferry is currently the only way to get from Paihia to Russel without taking a huge detour, as the road that usually connects Paihia and Russel was washed away.
