We will be spending the next 19 days on the dreamy islands of Fiji. After spending the first three nights on the main island, the Yasawa Flyer will take us to Wayalailai Island, our first destination: Homestay Imeri. We will spend 2 nights in a village with the locals, a great experience. We will learn to live with the bare essentials, shower with a bucket shower, and spend our days reading, playing, and relaxing. The highlights were definitely the hike to the highest mountain on the island for sunset and snorkeling with sharks on the last day! But after 2 days in simple conditions, we are also looking forward to the next accommodation, the Octopus Resort on Waya Island. After these 2 days of luxury, our next destination is the village of Gunu on Naviti Island. We will stay at the next homestay, Amele, for 3 nights. We will learn how the locals harvest coconuts, visit the village school, and enjoy snorkeling in the knee-deep turquoise water, where thousands of starfish can be found and the fish swim around you - simply wonderful. Finally, we will be taken to our last destination in the Yasawas, Barefoot Manta Resort, by a small fishing boat. Unfortunately, we are not lucky enough to see any mantas. Usually, there are many mantas not far from the resort, but they did not show up during these 3 days. Finally, we will take a 3-hour boat ride back to the main island. In the beautiful harbor town of Denarau, we will spend 6 relaxed days in a great apartment and enjoy having our own four walls after island hopping. On September 14th, our flight to Australia will finally depart after three wonderful weeks - we are incredibly excited!!
