Day 7 | 09/04/2018 Evanston - Thayne

E hatisitsoe: 05.09.2018

This morning we left Evanston and went straight to look for a mailbox. We found one in Paris. Yes, Paris, the city in Bear County right on Bear Lake. Quite surprisingly, I saw a sign on a building there. "English spoken here.." is obvious in Paris. :-)

Scenically, Wyoming is really beautiful, we are practically constantly at an altitude of over 3,000 feet without really noticing it. It is greener and more wooded here than in large parts of Nevada, for example. Wyoming is also called the Cowboy State. This is directly noticeable, because everywhere there are not only black cattle but also horses to see on the ranches.

Another highlight today was watching a herd of sheep being driven by two riders and about 10 dogs. We couldn't count the sheep, but there could have been a thousand. One of the dogs made us aware of being vigilant right by the road. The dog positioned itself in the middle of the highway. Fascinating how everything went calmly and quietly. We only heard the bleating of the sheep and dogs, horses and people knew exactly what to do. We watched the spectacle impressed from the car without disturbing the work.

Today we drove a short distance through Idaho, but then went back to Wyoming. The original plan was to go directly to Thayne, but the little Irt won't give much away, so we decided to continue to Jackson Hole, and that was a good idea. The extra hour of driving was definitely worth it. Personally, for me Jackson Hole is the prettier Virginia City. This place is very chic, only 104 years old, and combines the charm of the Wild West with modern architecture and the America with its welcoming culture that we love.

The drive along the Snake River is already a feast for the eyes, and the town itself is too. Shops, galleries, bars, restaurants, shops... everything your heart desires. Friendly Japanese people took a photo for us... and we feel very comfortable. Everything was very bearish everywhere, as you can see in the following pictures.

Unfortunately, our room in Thayne was already fixed, otherwise we would certainly have spent the evening with live music at the Million Dollar Cowboy Bar.

A few t-shirts ended up in the shopping bag and we drove to Thayne. For just under 100 dollars we had a nice room at the Snider Rustic Inn. Actually, there were 2 rooms with a total of three beds. You can even sit in front of the room and enjoy the nice weather.

Tomorrow we will drive through Jackson Hole again and then continue towards Yellowstone National Park. We're excited!
