South Africa Bimmel Bammel Tour 2024 – Day 1: Cape Town

Објављено: 13.11.2024

After a restful night, we wake up – the beds are simply amazing! The curtains open and voilà, the white beach of Hout Bay unfolds before us, set against a radiant blue sky. There’s no better way to start the day – Africa is truly on our side!

Now it’s time to brush our teeth, comb our hair, and head to our first breakfast! The buffet really leaves nothing to be desired. Everything is freshly prepared – and here’s the twist: Klaus, our host student in his first year, is in charge of the kitchen. He conjures up a fantastic avocado bread that earns him

a full score of 5*. 👍

Of course, we’re curious: According to Martina, Klaus has three things he does really well. What the other two are, we’ll find out in the coming days! Maybe he has a secret trick for peeling the perfect mango or flipping the best pancakes? We’re ready for the challenge! 🍳

All five rooms gather for breakfast at a large table. This is basically a wonderful opportunity to chat with the other guests!

Everyone shares their own adventures from Africa, and you can feel the enthusiasm for this continent.

But then there’s Kevin – let’s call him that – who recounts his African experiences in a loud and dominant manner. No matter what he and his wife have experienced, for him, there’s only one true way to discover Africa. His ultimate tip? To gain access to Ralf Schumacher’s luxury hotel, the Villa Colonia, he and his wife pretend to have a severe case of diarrhea.

Great idea – cringeworthy!

With full

bellies and good spirits, we set out on our adventure – the day can begin! 🌞✈️

First, we’re off to the Waterfront in Cape Town! Wow, so much has really changed here!

For Kristina and me, this is almost a completely new place! Steffi and Kai were here last in 2023 and are now almost like nostalgic vacationers.

An absolute highlight for the four of us is the Oranjezicht Market – the place where you not only get hungry but can also make some new friends among the Rooibos smoothie lovers! Who would have thought that while strolling through the market, we’d also send our taste buds on a world tour?

There were also really cool ranger leather boots that we initially just glanced at. But more on that later...

After indulging in tuna, biltong, spicy sausage, caramel, and all sorts of other treats, we strolled leisurely to the Waterfront. On the way, we made a quick stop at the local Aston Martin dealer – after all, you have to know what the market has to offer!

Now, it was high time to enjoy a cold beer in the sun.

A shady spot in the sun was quickly found. Ah, how beautiful life can be...

Afterwards, we wanted to head to Camps Bay for dinner.

It was Saturday evening, and Camps Bay was packed – it was like a Ballermann in Mallorca.

We quickly found a great alternative: the Chapman Peak Hotel in Hout Bay. There, we could enjoy a fantastic view and delicious food while watching the sunset.

Do you remember the leather boots from the Oranjezicht Market? After a few glasses of wine, we all agreed that these shoes deserved more attention. Plus, we’re coming home in winter, and one needs good winter boots after all.

How nice that we all agreed to go back to the market on Sunday to make a final decision.

With this nice thought, we made our way back to the guesthouse, where we spent the evening chatting with Klaus and Martina.

Good night, Africa!
