When we heard the news that we would soon expect the first visit on our trip, we set off again in the next few days to the south to go directly to the island of Koh Samui. We now had about 1 week's time there. And funnily enough, we met Chiara and Marvin again here and spent another three days with them. As fate would have it, it rained for three days straight (just like during our time together in Vietnam) and we had a lot of time to play cards =)
Two days before the others were supposed to come, we booked a nice guesthouse with a pool directly by the sea in Lamai. These were our first days since we've been traveling in Asia where we could finally spend the whole day in the sun in a bikini.
Some beautiful beach pictures were taken there, which we don't want to withhold from you =)
But what we also want to show you is the dark side of Thailand... we have heard and read a lot about absolute dream beaches on Koh Samui, especially Lamai Beach. I was really looking forward to the beach, but after the first few meters, great horror spread across our faces. Have I expected too much again? Are we too spoiled? No, I believe the pictures speak for themselves. It should be mentioned that it had rained on that day and things never look as nice when it rains, but the rain does not excuse the mountains of garbage, the dirt, and the decrepit shacks. Unfortunately, many beaches in Thailand and generally in Asia look like this. The fact that Lamai Beach is considered one of the most beautiful beaches in the world is a big mystery to me, but maybe there are just different tastes here =)
