After the whisky tasting in Bushmills in the afternoon, when we were already slightly tipsy 🤪, we headed to Carrick a Rede. The suspension bridge over the sea was the destination for Markus, who luckily doesn't suffer from fear of heights😱
The English are great at ripping off people with parking fees… 10£ for parking… the frugal heart of a Swabian prefers a longer walk and pays nothing. But then, the suspension bridge and the footpath still cost an additional £13, per person, of course. Markus is pretty angry, he wants to turn back and not support this rip-off. So, I ask Mr. at the cash desk, in the friendliest English and with puppy eyes, if we may be allowed to walk the path without payment this time, if we don't enter the bridge - and lo and behold, we were allowed to pass.
So we hiked along the cliffs for free until we reached the suspension bridge… what can I say, this bridge is maybe 20 meters long… but they could have given me 1000£ and I wouldn't have crossed it, not even after a few more glasses of Bushmills. Despite everything, it was a beautiful hike and we took photos of the bridge and then walked back.
Schnuffilein had an encounter with a donkey… fortunately, there was a fence in between, otherwise the cheeky little dog would have gotten a beating from the donkey, just like we experienced with the sheep.
Then I save a £1 coin from the binoculars with my pocket knife and the day is saved🤑
As a reward, Markus treats me to ice cream and cooks my favourite meal… spaghetti with prawns 😋
