I woke up well-rested on the last morning on the ship in the very comfortable bed. Stephan was already awake, but still snuggled up. We got up together in peace and met the other two at the restaurant for breakfast. We had to check in our luggage by 11:20 am, vacate the room by 2 pm, and leave the ship by 3 pm. We used the remaining time to relax on the sun lounger on the pool deck, read a book, and have lunch. Feeling a little nostalgic that the time had flown by so quickly and knowing that winter had arrived at home, we left the ship and got on the bus that took us to the airport. On the way, we saw beautiful rainbows as it briefly rained on the island again. We got off the bus at the airport and walked to the other terminal, unlike the rest who stayed in the dry. One of the bus drivers waved us back, but Danny and Franka had ordered flowers, which someone brought over. We met him right away. Unfortunately, he had brought two packages, which caused some confusion. But after a brief discussion with their guide Kathrin, it was sorted out and they only paid for one package. When we arrived at the other terminal again, the line hadn't gotten much shorter. Schwägi and I were annoyed by tiny creatures that were poking us during the waiting time. At the entrance, our passports were checked and we went through security in two lines, which went smoothly. The waiting area was a bit meager. But contrary to my expectations, there was even a mini duty-free shop and a small stand where they offered overpriced coffee. Here we bought the blue rum as a farewell gift. I changed in the bathroom and later exchanged contact information with Nello and Gudrun. Families and business class were called relatively quickly. We all had the same seats as on the outbound flight. While we waited for our turn, someone shouted loudly. At first, I thought something was happening. But to our relief, the young Italian was celebrating his football team's victory. We were very shocked. My heart was still pounding when we ran to the plane on the runway as one of the last ones. We took off at exactly 6 pm and saw from above how the city was enveloped in darkness! Quietly, I said to myself:
Goodbye Caribbean, we will definitely come back!!!
