After waking up without freezing (such a cabin is great), after packing the motorcycle and getting myself ready for the day, there was a rich breakfast and a big delicious cup of coffee.
Then the start. Prague seems to be huge, the timid and very considerate Czech drivers were doing their best, so it took almost an hour until I finally got out of the city.
At first, I continued on small and tiny country roads, but then I decided to use a highway to make some progress. Straight towards the east, few towns, but lots of traffic and a constant crosswind that often reached storm strength. How boring but also very exhausting. But what's this, a shortcut. The highway makes a turn, but there is a direct route through the forest.
But as it is with shortcuts, I saved a few kilometers. I also had fun. And I have plenty of time, I just wanted to ride on paved roads until dark 😬.
First, a well-graveled forest path, eventually the gravel became less and less, then there were only two deep and muddy tracks left that heavy logging machines had dug into the forest floor. But it was only one or two kilometers that were very challenging. The road got better again and forked. But my navigation system didn't have that information.
So I got off just to be safe and explored both paths on foot. Both ended after a few meters.
Shit, missed a turn. Turn the motorcycle around, go back, cleared two small fallen firs out of the way, and lo and behold, the missed turn was suddenly visible.
Turning the motorcycle sounds simple. But getting a fully loaded cargo in the right direction on a narrow and soggy forest path is anything but easy.
After a short distance that was relatively passable, I returned to the well-built country road.
After a little more than 260 km, I tried to find a campsite. No chance. And due to lack of water, I decided against wild camping (which is not allowed here anyway).
Then I checked into a room in a nice guesthouse, with kitchen facilities.
Tomorrow I will continue to Slovakia
