Hello hello, p>
After our first day on the Isle of Skye, I would like to start with a short story. It's called 'The Isle of Skye or how two little Interrailers always and always get through with a lot of luck and love, with their delayed planning'. Part 1: The two Interrailers have the clever idea not to book the trickiest part of the journey, where the transport options are uncertain, but to keep these three days open. When we realized a few days ago, to be precise, 3 days ago, that it was time to book now, we found out that the whole of Skye is fully booked at the moment, as the island is in high season and very popular with tourists. But luck can fix it, we reach a hostel in Portree in the center of the island by phone, which miraculously has one bed left for two of the three nights. Hurray, but there are two of us. After some inquiries with a sad voice, the employee on the phone starts to count and says that he can't believe how lucky we are, but that he actually has a second bed for that time. For the third night we find another hostel, this time right by the ferry back to the mainland, in which by coincidence two beds were canceled a few minutes before our call. So the accommodation was settled. Did we learn anything from this experience? To a limited extent.
So here's part 2: yesterday evening we start (again too late but at least more than 12 hours in advance) to plan our day on the Isle of Skye, and realize that the best way to see as much as possible in the short time without a car is with a bus tour. Of course, all fully booked for weeks. After calling about 5 different companies, each of which referred us to others who might still have one or two seats available, we come across GoSkye, a shuttle company that offers an 8-hour tour of the whole island, with a guide and great reviews on the internet and still available seats.
So this morning we set off with a booked tour and booked rooms by train and bus to Skye. The bus ride across the island is already a joy thanks to the breathtaking landscape outside the window. After our arrival, we checked into the hostel and then set off on a discovery tour of Portree, the center of Skye, and spent the afternoon with a walk along the water, a short photo shoot, and some shopping.
Now we are back at our accommodation and are looking forward to tomorrow's tour after today's taste.
Until tomorrow,
Veronika and Christine p>
