The vacation is coming to an end and after almost packing everything yesterday, including because a thunderstorm was approaching, which ripped the neighbor's entire awning off, we have breakfast, jump into the sea again, and start our journey towards home.
Before the border to Slovenia, we are stuck in traffic, but since we are only driving on country roads again, it will become less crowded.
There have also been wildfires here in some parts. The damage is severe.
After considering which way to choose, we decide to go back through South Tyrol.
The village passes are partly really exciting.
This time we only see the Three Peaks in the rain (the first real rain for us in weeks)
and therefore decide to drive on to Sterzing.
We find a public parking lot in Sterzing, where several campers are already parked and where parking overnight seems to be tolerated.
In addition, Sterzing is supposed to have a beautiful old town. There is actually a street that looks like a film set.
Unfortunately, almost all restaurants here are closed on Sundays. We find a restaurant and want to eat and drink something. Unfortunately, today they only serve drinks. But we must look so hungry that the waitress brings us sandwiches (that we don't even have to pay for) Very nice 😊
We treat ourselves to a delicious Italian ice cream...it has to be done.
We go to bed early, as we want to start early tomorrow.
