This beautiful quote from Jeremy Clarkson takes on a special meaning today. But let's start from the beginning
After we had a good night's sleep, we drove to Alamo at 8:00 a.m. and picked up the rental car in perfect sunshine and weather. Before you get jealous, I'd better not tell you what it is. I'll just say one thing: a staggering 65 hp race up the Highlands with Wolfgang Petry in tow.
Our goal today: Blue Falls of Costa Rica and arrival in La Fortuna. We have 6 waterfalls ahead of us. The flora and fauna are really fantastic. Unbelievably beautiful. However, the natural paths also have their disadvantages. To get to the big waterfall, you have to cross a river. However, not all of the stones are above the water, so your shoes will definitely get soaking wet. The same goes for the first group ahead of us. Even the guide in rubber boots.
My genius proved itself here too. Before I spend the whole day walking around with wet shoes and socks, I cross the river as the only one barefoot and tie my shoes to my backpack. Perfect and extremely clever... Well, almost, unfortunately the knot came undone halfway through and one shoe fell into the water. The sock was of course stuffed in, and the one on the other side that was being wrung out got a good amount of mud... Great.
Overall, the trip was highly recommended, a full 10/10. But just leave your damn shoes on and change in the car. Done
After a good 3 1/2 hours of walking and inexplicably wet clothes, we set off for La Fortuna without reception (everyone has that). Luckily, I didn't just sing and clap in my childhood and was therefore still able to read and navigate a printed map. My chick next to me still has a lot to learn 😂😂 the kids of today.
In the active volcanic area we found a really great hostel where we slept in a crazy barrel. Unfortunately, insta and reality are different. This "great" barrel is incredibly small and the humidity is your new best friend as soon as you put a towel in it. We even paid 50 bucks more for it hahahaha Simply godless.
In the evening we met old friends from Sri Lanka. It was a really nice evening. Greetings go out
The little things give us so much to talk about and laugh about throughout the day. So I'm looking forward to tomorrow when we'll hike up the active volcano in the cloud forest.
